Rock hounds thrill to this large museum's extensive displays. The facility occupies the former El Zaribah Shrine Temple, and its mission is to educate the public about Arizona's mining history and public use of, and dependence on, minerals. With over 3000 exhibited specimens, the museum showcases meteorites, moon rocks, gemstones, and copper from local mines. A display on gem-cutting illustrates the intricacy of the craft, and a gift shop sells books, jewelry, and rock-related items. |
